She completed a German law degree at the University of Münster (Master Iuris, M. Iur.). In addition, she successfully completed dual course of study at the University of Applied Sciences of the Federal Public Administration (Diplom-Finanzwirtin (FH), equivalent to a degree in fiscal administration).

Ms. Fanenstich worked for several years as a customs officer in the German customs administration, most recently at the Customs Investigation Bureau (Zollkriminalamt). Since 2022, she has been working as a consultant in customs and international trade law at AWB Law GmbH in Münster.

She also lectures as a visiting lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences of the Federal Public Administration and provides corporate customs training for the AWA Foreign Trade Academy (AWA-Außenwirtschaftsakademie) in Germany.

Ms. Fanenstich regularly publishes articles on customs law in legal journals such as Außenwirtschaftliche Praxis (AW-Prax) and others.
