Cornelius Herschbach is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law. He joined the ICTL as a Junior Researcher in 2016. Mr. Herschbach studied law at the University of Münster from 2013 to 2018.

After his First State Examination he wrote his dissertation on “Misuse and circumvention of customs legislation” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hans Michael Wolffgang. During his subsequent legal clerkship from December 2021 to January 2024, Cornelius Herschbach had stations at the renowned law firm AWB Tax & LAW GmbH, the Tax Office Hamm and the Financial Court of Hamburg.

Since March 2024 Mr. Herschbach is an associated lawyer of the AWB Tax & Law GmbH. He advises clients in all areas of customs law. Cornelius Herschbach regularly publishes articles on customs law in legal academic journals such as the “Zeitschrift für Zölle und Verbrauchssteuern” (ZfZ).
